Schlage unlocks Apple home key with Encode Plus Smart WiFi Deadbolt
Home security provider Schlage has announced its latest innovation at CES 2022 – the Schlage Encode Plus Smart WiFi Deadbolt, for home access that’s both secure and incredibly convenient.
One of the first devices to utilize Apple’s new home keys feature, you can use Apple Wallet to ‘store’ your key and unlock your door with either your iPhone or Apple Watch.
The devices don’t need to be unlocked to work, and with Apple’s Power Reserve feature (supported on iPhone XS or later and Apple Watch Series 4 running watchOS 8 or later) you can even open your door up to five hours after your phone or watch has run out of battery.

"The Schlage Encode Plus Smart WiFi Deadbolt provides homeowners with an even simpler and secure way to access their homes," said Dave Ilardi, general manager at Schlage.
"This is just another step in our vision to create purposeful experiences that deliver simplicity and peace of mind."
The lock is also fully supported by the Schlage Home app, which enables owners to check the status of the deadbolt and lock/unlock it remotely.
For anyone who needs to allow people temporary access to their property – to water their plants when away, for example – the app can also be used to create and manage up to 100 access codes, and set them with temporary, recurring or permanent access.

The smarts aren’t all about Apple, either, as it’s also possible to use Amazon’s Alexa or Google Home, to control the lock via voice.
Handy if you want to let people in at the front door while you’re relaxing in the garden listening to Spotify.
The Schlage Encode Plus Smart WiFi Deadbolt will be available late spring for $299.99. The Schlage Home app is available for both iOS and Android.
