WWE SmackDown Results For March 18, 2022

SmackDown tonight is set to feature a confrontation between Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar ahead of their championship match at WrestleMania. Tonight will also see the team of Sasha Banks and Naomi take on Rhea Ripley and Liv Morgan in a tag team match.
It should be interesting to see how things play out on tonight’s show.
SmackDown begins live in Charlotte, North Carolina with Universal Champion Roman Reigns coming out to the ring along with Paul Heyman and The Usos. Reigns says that tonight is a special night on the road to WrestleMania. Heyman pulls out his phone and shows it to Reigns and informs everyone that due to a travel issue, Brock Lesnar will not be at SmackDown tonight.
Reigns says that there is nobody out there who can stop him. Heyman tries to tell Reigns something and Reigns angrily asks Heyman what he needs to tell him. Heyman informs Reigns that Lesnar’s plane has just landed and he is on his way. Reigns quickly leaves the ring and Heyman and The Usos follow him to the back.
Backstage, Reigns and The Usos are seen getting into a car, when as we cut to commercial, Brock Lesnar driving a forklift directly inro the car the Bloodline is in.

Back from commercial and we see footage of Lesnar nearly impaling The Usos with the forks, then lifting the car up on the forklift and flipping it over, and finally tearing the door off of the next car The Bloodline runs into as they drive away.
After that footage is shown, Lesnar’s music hits and Lesnar comes out to the ring, carrying the car door that he just ripped off. Lesnar holds the door up in the ring and says that in two weeks at WrestleMania he will be coming for blood and Lesnar kicks the door down and leaves the ring, with the door still lying in the middle of the ring.

Rick Boogs & Shinsuke Nakamura vs Los Lotharios
The match begins with Humberto and Nakamura. Humberto grabs Nakamura by the hair and locks in a side headlock. Angel tags in and Los Lotharios begin to work over Nakamura in their corner with double team moves and quick tags. Humberto goes for a cover for two. Angel takes a cheap shot to Boogs to knock hm off the apron. Nakamura breaks free with a hip toss and makes the hot tag to Boogs. Boogs hits the military press and throws Humberto into Angel. oogs hits Angel with the Boogs cruise and Boogs covers for three.

Drew McIntyre & The Viking Raiders vs Happy Corbin, Jinder Mahal and Shanky
Back from the commercial with Happy Corbin and company being interviewed backstage. Madcap Moss says one of his signature jokes, except this time Corbin doesn’t laugh but instead stares angrily at Moss, for some unexplained reason.
The match begins with Shanky throwing Erik into the corner. Shanky hits a big lariat and tags Mahal in. Erik hits a spine buster and tags in Ivar. Corbin is tagged in and Ivar hits a shoulder tackle to knock Corbin out of the ring. Corbin rolls back in and hits Ivar with a spine buster.

Back live with Corbin hitting a lariat into the corner to Erik. McIntyre tags in and Corbin panics and tags in Shanky as Corbin runs away. McIntyre hits the Michinoku driver to Shanky and kips up. McIntyre hits the claymore and covers Shanky for three.

Sasha Banks & Naomi vs Rhea Ripley & Liv Morgan
The match begins with Banks and Morgan in a lock up. Banks hits a hip toss but Morgan reverses it and lands on her feet. Morgan gets a roll up for a two count. Naomi tags in and hits a split leg leg drop to Morgan on the mat and Naomi covers for two. Ripley tags in and goes for a slam but Naomi avoids it. Banks makes the blind tag and hits a knee to Ripley’s head. Ripley hits a delayed vertical suplex and covers for a two count. Ripley hits a cannon ball from the apron to take out Naomi.

Back live with Ripley attempting a delayed vertical suplex but Naomi is able to break free and hit a springboard kick. Banks and Morgan are both tagged in, Banks hits a kick to the face and hits a running double knee strike in the corner followed by a meteora into a cover the Morgan kicks out of at two. Ripley is tagged in and hits a missile drop kick off the top rope and covers for a two count. Banks hits the back stabber and tags in Naomi who hits the moonsult and covers but Morgan breaks it up at two. Banks tags in and Banks and Naomi go for a superplex, Morgan runs in to make it a tower of doom. Natalya and Shayna Baszler run in to attack all the wrestlers and end the match in a no contest.

Back live with Pat McAfee walking into the ring. McAfee says that as a young kid he randomly saw professional wrestling on TV on a Monday night and it forever changed his life. McAfee says on that Monday night, he found a thing he thought he was put on this earth to do. McAfee says that after other careers got in his way, he got a call from Michael Cole to come work for WWE. McAfee is interrupted by Austin Theory making his way out to the ring.
McAfee tells Theory that he was advised to apologize to him or risk losing his WrestleMania match. McAfee begins to apologize but keeps stopping mid-sentence. McAfee says that he apologizes for beating his ass last week and Theory shoves McAfee into the ropes and leaves the ring.

Kofi Kingston vs Ridge Holland
The match begins with Kingston immediately hitting a drop kick. Kingston keeps up the intensity until Holland is able to slam Kingston to the mat. Kingston ducks under the rope to cause Holland to fall to the outside.

Back live with Holland hitting a back elbow. Holland locks in a chin lock on the mat. Kingston is able to break free but Holland immediately answers with an uppercut. Kingston hits a kick to the chest and the a drop kick to the face. Kingston follows up by hitting the boom drop. Sheamus causes a distraction allowing Butch to shove Kingston off the top rope. The ref catches on to what happened and ejects Sheamus and Butch from ringside. Butch tries to run into the ring but Sheamus holds him back. Off the distraction Holland capitalizes and hit the northern grit and Holland covers for three.
Winner: Ridge Holland

Back live with SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair in the ring. Charlotte says that she always has a plan. Charlotte says last week she showed Ronda Rousey why she’s the most decorated woman in sports entertainment history. Charlotte says Rousey was seconds away from tapping out before WWE officials pulled Charlotte off Rousey. Charlotte says Rousey does not have the passion to do what Charlotte has done in the ring. Charlotte calls out Rousey to come out to the ring tonight in Charlotte’s home town.
Rousey answers the challenge and makes her way out to the ring. Rousey avoids a kendo stick swing and goes for the arm bar but Charlotte rolls out of the ring. Outside Rousey throws Charlotte to the ring post. Rousey goes for the ankle lock but Charlotte hits Rousey with a kendo stick. Charlotte uses the kendo stick to choke out Rousey outside the ring. Charlotte powerbombs Rousey through the announce table and SmackDown goes off the air.
