As if Harvey Weinstein couldn’t get in more legal trouble.
The former Hollywood film producer and currently imprisoned sex predator was recently busted for trying to smuggle in Milk Duds into prison, Variety reported.
After a meeting with his lawyers, Weinstein was searched in a jail medical facility which revealed the stash of the banned candy on Nov. 10.
In a statement to Variety, Weinstein stated the incident was an “innocent misunderstanding.”
“It will not happen again. I have been a model inmate, following the rules and regulations and I am sincerely sorry, said Weinstein.
Variety reported Weinstein had told jail guards he brought the chocolate with him from New York when he was extradited last July. However, a body search after he arrived to Los Angeles yielded no Milk Duds, which led guards to believe Weinstein’s lawyers smuggled in the sweet goods.
Weinstein’s lawyers also apologized in a statement, saying “It had not happened before, and never happened since.”
