With Dyson, you can buy an older model and it's still going to be great. And that's a good option when these vacuums cost an arm and a leg.
But if you have the budget and inclination, the Dyson V15 Detect gets you best-in-class battery and suction across multiple floor types... and it has a damn laser too. Yes, really. It helps otherwise difficult-to-see debris on hard floors, which is excellent.
It's worth noting that in addition to being pricey, it's also on the heavier side. But if you're good with that, this is a fantastic buy that will last you years.
