This App Keeps Track of All of Your Home Maintenance Tasks for You
Moving into a new home is undeniably exciting, but learning how to maintain your new space can be fraught with worry and unexpected expenses aplenty. Whether you’ve recently moved in and have no idea how to handle things like boiler maintenance and chimney sweeps or are simply looking to do some spring cleaning, one app is here to make home maintenance a breeze.
Upkept, which is backed by Consumer Reports, provides a one-stop shop for your home’s specific needs whether you live in a studio apartment or a multi-family home. Available on both Apple and Android devices, you’ll be able to input your home’s individual appliances and systems, and the app will put it all in place by way of your unique Home Hub.
When you add info about your roof to floors and everything in between, Upkept creates instant tailor-made maintenance plans to help you keep things in tip-top shape, creating automatic schedules and reminders to help you do the right work at the right time. Never again will you forget to change the water filters or clear out your gutters, because Upkept will remind you when it’s time to do so.
Users will be advised whether they can complete a task themselves or if calling in a pro is necessary, and each task is noted as critical, important, or extra credit, with estimated info for each task on budget and time also included. It will also walk you through each DIY task step by step, alleviating the anxiety of trying home tasks you’ve never tackled before.
The app currently offers a free 30-day trial with a $4.99 monthly charge thereafter — though for less than the cost of a latte, the peace of mind seems like an absolute no brainer no matter how handy you might be. Though online reviewers note that certain essential items (such as pool and hot tub maintenance) aren’t yet available on the app, here’s hoping that offerings will expand in time.
